Strategy #1 :: Planning Ahead

So in this new year, I have refocused myself towards the goal that I started almost a year ago and am using the tools that I have in order to achieve that goal. So Rob and I had "date night" last Friday where we went out to dinner and a movie...but in the middle of that we did some menu planning and went grocery shopping.One of the secrets that I believe heavily in is planning ahead.

So we sit down and peruse WW magazines, Food Network magazines and my WW Kitchen Companion app for the iPad. We plan out usually 2 weeks at a time and exactly which meal we will be eating on which day - taking into account how many leftovers we will have for lunches, slow cooker meals we can make while lounging at home and what could be a quick meal after a nice run.

So here is what we have, starting with today:
  • Sunday, January 8th - Crock Pot Mexican Chicken Stew over Brown Rice
  • Wednesday, January 11th - Stuffed Cabbage Hot Dish
  • Thursday, January 12th - Rosemary Pork Tenderloin with Root Veggies & Swiss Chard
  • Saturday, January 14th - Williams Family Beef Stew with Crusty Homemade Bread
  • Sunday, January 15th - Slow Cooker Bolognese Rigatoni with Arugula Salad
  • Monday, January 16th - Stove Top Cassoulet
  • Tuesday, January 17th - Jeremy's Red Curry over Brown Rice
  • Friday, January 20th :: Rob's Birthday - Poulet Au Vinaigre (Chicken Thighs w Shallots in a Red Wine Vinegar - 2 of Rob's favorite things)

So what I'm going to try to do is document the making of these culinary masterpieces. More to come. GO FALCONS!!!- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

New Year, New Focus, New Attitude!!!

So here it is 2012 and for the past few weeks I have been feeling sort of...well, stuck. I mean I have been "sort of" watching what I eat and "sort of" exercising and "sort of" attending my meetings. But now is the time to continue on the journey that has brought me such great success over the last 10 months.

And after meeting my cousin for lunch today, have decided to continue my blog and share my shenanigans with all that would like to read. A recipe here, a great running song there - and all of the good bits (and bad bits) in between. So today I will say this - Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I will now be giving myself reasons why I can.

Until tomorrow!
